The Castle Of Brecon Hotel is an historic hotel of great charm and character. It opened first as a coaching inn in the late eighteenth century, becoming one of the first hotels in Wales in the early nineteenth century. Occupying the site and remains of Brecon castle close to the centre of town, it stands on a bluff of land between two rivers commanding extensive views along the valley of the river Usk and up at the peaks of The Brecon Beacons. Privately owned and family run, it combines a friend SET in 27 acres of parkland surrounded by the River Irfon, Caer Beris is the former home of Lord Swansea. The current owners, Peter and Katharine Smith, have spent the past 18 years restoring and converting the Manor into a welcoming family run three star country house hotel.
The individually furnished bedrooms, comfortable lounges overlooking the gardens, historic panelled restaurant and well stocked bar all help create a relaxing hideaway in the very Heart of Wales.
